DeWalt DW088K

Top tip: If you plan to work outside, long range or in bright conditions, you will always need to use a laser detector with your laser level.
This applies to all makes and models and for both red & green lasers.
This laser is not supplied with a detector as standard and so you will need to tick the 'Include Optional Detector' box to add it to your order.

Product overview:

The Professional Trades voted the DeWalt DW088K kit as one of the best Cross Line Lasers on the market today.

Its popularity is due to its accuracy, versatility and bright, (wide fan angle) red laser beams.

The instrument includes an integral Magnetic Pivot support, together with a Wall bracket which doubles as a ceiling fixers clamp bracket.
You can also switch the laser beams ON/OFF independently, to save battery power.

This latest model in the DeWalt laser range has thicker front glass & a more protective black rubber moulding around the laser window area for extra protection on the worksite.

The DW088K also includes a full time "pulsed output" to operate a optional Detector (DE0892) - with the benefit of extending the laser's usable range to 50 metres.

Question:

Hello Do you do this model with the green lazer as the red beam is sometimes a bit hard to see. Is the green laser a stronger beam? if so is this the same price £139.95. This model does have the magnet on back of the laser dosnt it?

Answers:

  • Posted by Laser Levels Online - Support on Wednesday 22nd of February 2017

    Hello Craig,

As a general rule of thumb, green lasers are 3 to 4 times brighter than their red beam equivalents. This means however, that the price is usually more because of the technology used in creating this beam.

We believe that the green beam DW088K (like others, is brighter than the red) but cannot be definite about this, as we do not sell the green beam version.

You are right, the DW088K does have a magnetic back and clamp which is very useful for suspended ceilings etc.

Therefore, in conclusion, if you require the green beam, then I'm sorry we don't stock this version and would be unable to help you with this purchase.

However, the red beam is available from our website at £139.95 plus VAT.

Question:

I bought the dewalt DW088K ,,,just wondering if this unit also measures and displays distance from one place to anotherm

Answers:

  • Posted by Laser Levels Online - Support on Wednesday 7th of December 2016

    Hi Connie,

    Thank you for your message.

The DW088K is a "laser level" and that allows you to set a level from point A to point B.

What you would also need is a "distance meter" which enables you to calculate the distance from point a to point b.

We have a full range here (depending on your budget):

    http://www.laser-level.co.uk/products/distance-meters.html

If you have any further questions or require any additional assistance please do not hesitate to contact us.

Question:

My De Walt lazer level, I.d.code DW088. Will not switch on. It is about 2years old, and was working fine when I put it in its container having used it. However when I went to use it again it would not switch on. The low battery light was blinking when I opened it so I replaced them with new ones. But it still will not switch on. Can you suggest anything as I work as a bathroom fitter and miss it very badly . With thanks TimRyan, Dublin

Question:

Hi.can you recommend a tri-pod for outside use with the dewalt dw088k? Thanks

Answers:

  • Posted by Laser Levels Online - Support on Monday 16th of February 2015

    Hi,

For outside work you will require a Tripod like the "LAT":

    http://www.laser-level.co.uk/products/tripods-staffs-rods/lat-standard-surveying-tripod.html

but to work in conjunction with the DW088K you will require a thread adapter to convert from 5/8 inch to 1/4 inch.

The adapter can be seen here:

    http://www.laser-level.co.uk/products/accessories/5814-thread-adapter.html

Please note: To enable the DW088K to work outside you will also require the DE0892 Detector:

    http://www.laser-level.co.uk/products/laser-detectors-receivers/dewalt-de0892-line-detector.html

Question:

hi there i knocked my dewalt dw087k laser of the wall and have broken the glass screen it still works and seems to still be level and plumb but can the screen be repaired ? if so how much would this cost to repair and re caliberate thanks

Sorry but once the glass is broken DeWalt do not recommend a repair. Dust having got inside, can make it unreliable in the future.
