Early on in the project I looked into renting "professional" laser levels , but opted to buy the SLP5 instead and its paid for itself many times over.
The level has been invaluable on just abour every stage of the project from setting out the foundations to levelling and squaring the oak frames and trusses as I built them. As the project moved on its uses continued, making setting out first fix plumbing and electrics a breeze.
It's quick and easy to set up and small enough to carry in your tool box, smaller infact than most spirit levels. So much so that I found I used it on many a job where I'd ordinarily have reached for the spirit level.
A fold out mount for hanging it off a screw or nail really saves time over setting up the tripod for those quick one off jobs. Not suprisingy I didn't use the "magnetic base" at all in my timber frame build, but next time I sign write the van I'll be putting it to the test.
The only downside to this model is that it doesn't feature a vertical line to complement it's horizontal line, but the vertical dot feature, with one "up-dot" and one "down-dot" is a close second best and for its price this is a small compromise to make.
Overall this well deserves it's 5 star rating. (Posted on 26/01/2013)
