The different types of thread

5/8" Inch Thread

This is the standard thread found on most Rotary and Dumpy (Optical) Levels and some larger Cross Line Lasers. 
Please note: The style of the tripod head may vary, but the photo is really intended to illustrate the central thread size only.

1/4" Inch Thread

This is the standard thread found on some of the smaller Cross Line Lasers and is the usually used on all photographic equipment.
